The upcoming iCarly revival will be missing one key cast member: Jennette McCurdy, who played Sam on the original Nickelodeon run, says she&#;s done with acting entirely, indicating she won&#;t return to reprise her role.

McCurdy told guest Anna Faris in a recent episode of her podcast Empty Inside that she quit acting &#;a few years ago to try my hand at writing and directing,&#; adding that she never wanted to act in the first place, but her mother got her into showbiz as a kid. &#;I was the main financial support for my family. My family didn&#;t have a lot of money, and this was the way out&#; always, always, always, acting was difficult for me.&#; (E! Online first reported the news.)

McCurdy says she ultimately quit acting after her mother passed away in , &#;because with her death kind of died a lot of her ideas for my life, and that was its own journey, and a difficult one for sure.&#; Looking back on her acting career, McCurdy admits: &#;I&#;m so ashamed of the parts I&#;ve done in the past. I resent my career in a lot of ways. I feel so unfulfilled by the roles that I played and felt like it was the most cheesy, embarrassing&#; My friends at 15, they&#;re not like, &#;Oh, cool, you&#;re on this Nickelodeon show.&#; It was embarrassing.&#;

The original iCarly, which aired on Nickelodeon from to , followed a group of friends creating a webcast while grappling with everyday problems and adventures. Miranda Cosgrove starred as Carly, with McCurdy playing Carly&#;s best friend Sam. (McCurdy later starred alongside Ariana Grande in the spinoff Sam & Cat.) An iCarly revival was ordered at Paramount+ in December, with Cosgrove returning along with original co-stars Jerry Trainor (Spencer) and Nathan Kress (Freddie) — but not with McCurdy.

'iCarly' and Miranda Cosgrove denounce racism after Laci Mosley faces cyberbullying: 'Racism kills'

The "iCarly" cast, including Miranda Cosgrove, are denouncing "all instances of hate and racism" after a new cast member from the upcoming Paramount+ reboot faced racially-charged harassment online.

Laci Mosley – a Black actress who will play the best friend of Miranda Cosgroves' Carly, Harper, in the revival – revealed on social media over the weekend she's experiencing cyberbullying by people who believe she's replacing Jennette McCurdy's Sam Puckett. (McCurdy, who has retired from acting, is not returning for the reboot.)

"Hi, I'm playing Harper on 'iCarly.' I'm not replacing Sam. Jennette McCurdy is a wonderful person. I've never met her but it's no shade," she said in an expletive-filled Instagram Story that has since expired.

"Please stop calling me (the N word) and being racist," she captioned the video, calling for people to "stay out of her comments" with racist remarks.

'iCarly' rebootordered by Paramount+ with original cast members

The "iCarly" cast, including Miranda Cosgrove, are denouncing "all instances of hate and racism" after new cast member, Laci Mosley, faced racially-charged harassment online.

Mosley tweeted that "being a Black woman is exhausting," adding on Instagram that although "racism isn’t new… it still hurts."

"I love being Black. I hate how Black people are treated on this planet," she wrote on Instagram Monday. "I took this role on iCarly because the room is diverse…our show runner @ali_schouten is so incredibly kind and caring and the cast is talented and some of the best people I’ve ever met. I was shocked when a celebration of all the hard work we’ve put into making this reboot was overshadowed by the most racism I’ve ever experienced in my life over the course of 72 hours."

Mosley continued: "Racism kills. I can’t beg you to love me or yourselves enough to be kind to people but I can block you and protect my peace… Black is beautiful and no amount of slurs or vitriol you dump online will change that."

Cosgrove reposted an unofficial statement  from an "iCarly" fan page, which stated that "iCarly" is "proud to be racially diverse, not only in our crew but in our cast. We have recently seen reports of racism towards a member of our iCarly cast, and it is not acceptable!"

"iCarly" and Paramount+ issued a joint statement on Instagram Monday saying the television show "stands with the iCarly cast."

"Our company is proud to uphold the values of inclusivity and collaboration, where we work to embrace new and diverse voices, act with care and work together," the statement read. "The upcoming Paramount+ 'iCarly' series is one of many examples of this commitment, and we support our entire cast and crew and stand against all instances of hate and racism."

Jerry Trainor – who plays Spencer, Carly's older brother – shared the statement on his Instagram account. "I never wanna hear the phrase 'iCarly fans are racist,' ever again," he wrote. "I need the true fans to step up and drown out the hate."

New Paramount+ streaming serviceis courting fans with 'Frasier' revival, 'Mission: Impossible 7'

The writing staff for the "iCarly" revival, including comedian Franchesca Ramsey, shared an open letter on Twitter in response to the hateful messages Mosley received.

"We unequivocally denounce all racist attacks, anti-Black language and hate speech in the strongest possible terms," reads the letter. "iCarly is a joyous, inclusive show meant to promote kindness (and the occasional prank). Harassment and white supremacist ideology have no place in our show or the discourse around it. If that’s your preferred mode of communication, we suggest you watch something else."

Miranda Cosgrovegoes from 'iCarly' to college

Paramount+'s revival of "iCarly," the Nickelodeon show that ran from  to about a young teen's internet show going viral, is set to premiere on the streaming service June

It will will feature original cast members Cosgrove, Trainor and Nathan Kress, who played Carly's best friend Freddie. Noticeably missing: McCurdy.

The year-old retired from acting in to focus on writing and directing, according to her biography.

"My experience with acting is, I’m so ashamed of the parts I’ve done in the past,” she said in March during an episode of her "Empty Inside" podcast. "I resent my career in a lot of ways. I feel so unfulfilled by the roles that I played and felt like it was the most cheesy, embarrassing."

ARIA WALLACE Interview PART 1 MANDY from iCARLY and ROXY HUNTER with PIPER REESE! (PipersPicks #027)

Top 10 ‘iCarly’ episodes, ranked

iCarly was one of the most popular Nickelodeon shows during its time. The show ran from , but children and adults today still love watching the nostalgic comedy show. As a revival series is set to air on the new streaming service Paramount Plus the show has once again become popular. Until the release, you can watch the first two seasons on Netflix. Here are the best 10 episodes ranked:

“iWant More Viewers”

After starting to gain success from their web show, Carly (Miranda Cosgrove), Sam (Jennette McCurdy), Freddie (Nathan Kress) and Spencer (Jerry Trainor) team up and compete to see who can attract more viewers to the show. While Sam and Carly’s poster idea failed hilariously, so did Freddie and Spencer’s road sign. The sign even malfunctions live on the webcast and spells out “PEE ON CARL” instead of advertising the webshow.

While it’s one of the first episodes of the series, it still shows the strong chemistry among the cast and paves the way for the rest of the season.

9.) “iDate a Bad Boy”

In this special two-part episode, Carly meets her new neighbor, Griffin, after he steals Spencer’s motorcycle. Spencer lets him off the hook, but Carly still holds resent and shares her dislike for him. Eventually, Carly and Griffin get to know each other and even share a kiss that is disrupted by Spencer. He immediately bans Carly from seeing the new boy, and grounds her “for ‘til college.”

Spencer eventually lets the two start dating, but that all comes to an end when Griffin finds Carly making fun of his collection of “Pee Wee Babies.” Not only is guest star Drew Roy amazing eye candy, but it was also great seeing an overprotective Spencer being concerned about his little sister, which is something we don’t get to see a lot of.

8.) “iStage an Intervention”

This season two episode focuses on Spencer’s addiction to the “Pak-Rat” video game. The game eventually consumes his life, as he refuses to work, eat and even bathe because of his addiction. The only solution is to play against the game’s world champion, Sasha Striker, and hopefully beat the world record.

While the show mostly focuses on Carly and her friends, it's nice to see an episode focus on Spencer and his antics. After all, many now credit him for “carrying” the show.

7.) “iTwins”

The Parent Trap-like episode features Jeanette McCurdy playing both Sam and her twin sister, Melanie. The latter is back from boarding school and meets Freddie for the first time. However, Freddie thinks Sam is lying, so he does everything he can in his power to prove her lie, including asking her out on a date.

6.) “iAm Your Biggest Fan”

With another infamous character introduction, the episode features iCarly’s biggest fan, Mandy. The gang first is excited to have a No. 1 fan, but as their fan becomes a stalker, that excitement turns into fear.

Mandy is an awkwardly hilarious girl and also becomes a more notable character later into the series. It would be a shame not to include her on this list.

5.) “iPie”

The head chef of the gang’s favorite pie shop dies and causes the restaurant to close down. The gang then becomes determined to find the recipe for their favorite coconut cream pie. The only person who is believed to have the recipe is the chef’s granddaughter. However, she lies that she has the recipe, but she requests going on a date with Spencer in order to gain the recipe.

Another episode that focuses on Spencer, it’s just another example of Jerry Trainor’s fantastic performance of the character.

4.) “iKiss”

This is not only one of the most iconic episodes, but it also sets the stage for Sam and Freddie’s relationship later in the series. After Freddie pulls a horrible prank on Sam, she takes things to a new level and announces on the web show Freddie has never kissed anyone. Sam’s impulsive actions cause Freddie to be embarrassed and hide away from other people.

In hopes of making him feel better, Sam also reveals she has never been kissed, either. They both agree to secretly kiss each other and not tell anyone about it, even Carly. It’s one of few genuine interactions we see between the two characters, and seeing Sam feel guilty about her mean antics is rare.

3.) “iNevel”

We first meet the infamous character Nevel Papperman (Reed Alexander) in season one. The gang wants to be reviewed by Nevel, who runs a successful review website. However, trouble ensues after Carly refuses to kiss Nevel during his review, and the only way to take him down is to tell his mother about how awful her son is.

It’s a great introduction to the character who we pray to see throughout the series as well as another early episode favorite.

2.) “iPsycho”

Another iCarly special episode, Carly and the gang get invited to a fan's birthday party. Nora, an unpopular year-old, is excited to have the cast at her party. But once they try to leave, she kidnaps them in her basement in hopes of becoming their friends and becoming popular.

This iconic episode features Gibby (Noah Munck) and the first appearance of his little brother, Guppy, coming to the rescue. He fights off Nora and rescues his friends. We don’t get to see a ton of important Gibby scenes prior, so it's great to see him being a focal character for once.

1.) “iGo to Japan”

In this super special episode, the gang travels to Japan for the iWeb awards. The journey both to and while in Japan is anything but simple, including jumping out of a plane and getting sabotaged by the competition. And with guest stars Good Charlotte, this episode is jam-packed with excitement.

This episode is the top pick because of its new location, wild new characters and getting the inside scoop on a recurring character: Mrs. Benson. Before the episode, we never saw too much interaction between her and the rest of the gang. However, we get to see her in a hilarious light as she finally comes to the rescue.

Mandy From 'iCarly' Has Taken a Step Back From Acting on TV

For some, iCarly worked so well because of Carly's interactions with her best friends and older brother, Spencer. For others, Spencer was the whole reason for watching the Nickelodeon show (mental fantasies of your own BFF's hot older sibling, anyone?). Other fans, however, lived for the side characters like Mandy from iCarly, who was a Carly superfan in just two episodes, but certainly left her mark on the series.

And now that millennials are reliving their iCarly obsession thanks to the series dropping on Netflix, some are wondering where these minor but oh so impactful characters went. Yes, like Mandy, who was played by actress Aria Wallace, but now goes by the name Aria Summer. She has definitely grown up and grown apart from her Nickelodeon days and that includes seemingly severing all ties with her short-lived iCarly character.

Where is Mandy from 'iCarly' today?

According to IMDb, Aria hasn't been in a TV show or movie since , when she played a minor character in the movie Spork. But her life wasn't put on hold simply because she stepped back from the TV spotlight. Instead, she has been stage acting, modeling, and making music, which can be found on SoundCloud.

Her Instagram bio mentions traveling, modeling, singing, and acting all being part of her repertoire, so even if she hasn't been in anything major since her iCarly days, she is still performing in some capacity.
