Our first time in the Keys and we had a blast. We were Ocean front and the view was awesome. We rented a pontoon boat for 3 days and I highly recommend that. Parked right at our sight. The people were super friendly and very helpful. Check in was a breeze. We DID like all of the rules as we do not want to be around disrespectful people and it was a very quiet. As I went through the booking all of the fees were listed even the gate charge which was mentioned 4 times. We have already booked for May after our grandson gets out of school.

We'll definitely be back!!This house is amazing!!! Exactly as listed, super clean and perfect location. Waterfront boat slip made our boating easy around the Keys. Exactly What We Needed!My husband and I along with another couple stayed in Cudjoe Key. The property was exactly what we needed! It was a great price and clean. Complimentary snacks were left for us from small businesses in the area. I called a week before our visit with a concern and Laura M. (Our concierge) answered right away plus a couple times throughout the week to check and see if we needed anything. They were awesome!

We Recommend this HomeWe had such a wonderful time and would definitely choose to stay here again. The community and house are lovely and we felt right at home. The listing is very accurate and there is no need to clarify or correct anything. The amenities at the house and within the community were fantastic. My husband and I took our two teen girls and we all enjoyed ourselves. Key West is a pleasant drive down the road. All Around ExcellentLaura did an excellent job communicating from booking to checkout and everything in between! The decor and furnishings were very tasteful made for a relaxing experience. The unit was extremely well-equipped and they thought of everything down to aluminum foil and K-cups! Having the awesome boat slip and amazing deck made for wonderful sunrises and sunsets and direct access to the water. We enjoyed this lovely property so much and would rent it again.

Great place!My wife I have been in the Keys 4 times now and this place was by far the best we have stayed at! Clean and lots of space for everyone. Fishing off the back deck was awesome! All in all it was a great place.

Everything we'd hoped and more!This property was everything my group hoped it would be and more! It is very spacious and clean inside and the location is perfect. My friends and I enjoyed the bikes and kayaks as well as the pool at the property. If I ever want to visit Key West again, I'd love to stay at Tidewaters. Also, Laura, the property manager was fantastic and very responsive. I can't say enough great things!

Awesome stay!Not far from key west and had great amenities. Perfect for someone who has a boat. There is great local fishing areas by boat. The lagoon area and swimming pool are lovely with a great view. The house was cute and clean with lovely complimentary snacks when we arrived. Space had everything that was advertised and the property manager was very responsive and welcoming. Can’t beat the views!

Exceeded ExpectationsThis cottage totally exceeded our expectations for our 9 days of sunny Florida key vacation. It was very clean, had everything you could possible need. Wonderful location! Saw parrot fish, angel fish, needle-nose fish right from the dock in the canal along with the egrets, pelicans, and iguanas. Even watch a huge sawfish having a feeding frenzy on a nearby sandbar. The bikes were very comfortable and useful. Kayaks, fishing rods, SUP, and a daily sunrise along with friendly neighbors made this place exceptional. Lots of towels (bathing and beach), comfortable beds and furnishings, nice bathrooms, well stocked kitchen and new-like appliances including the washer/dryer really made our vacation easy.
Laura was wonderful and very helpful on all her recommendations, advise, and instructions...thank you Laura!! We really appreciate the goodies that were waiting for us to sample as well. We hope to return and definitely would stay here again.

Perfect LocationThis place is exactly as described. Very clean, and perfect location. The houses are very close together but the neighbors were very friendly. Location is perfect for sightseeing from Islamorada all the way down to Key West. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the Keys. Fully equipped kitchen, if you just want to stay in and relax.

This place sets the bar HIGH!!!I’ve stayed in many vacation rentals before but none better than this place! It was the most clean, had the best stocked kitchen, included several personal touches never experienced before, and had more amenities than any other property I’ve visited. We are making it a point to stay at THIS EXACT LOCATION again in the summer, as it was just that amazing!! We didn’t need a thing but our concierge was in constant communication beforehand with the few questions I did have. Seventeen stars!!!

Just what we were looking forThis property had everything we were looking for in our trip to the Keys. Venture Out Resort offered wonderful amenities. We were able to access the boat ramp and dock the boat in front of this rental. Plenty of pots, pans, spices, and cooking utensils to do some cooking. It was clean and neat. We were grateful to have the washer and dryer. The two bedrooms and two bathrooms was perfect for our couples trip. The guest service as great.

Wonderful place to stay!We will definitely be back! We loved the unit- enjoyed fishing right off the canal, bike riding and tennis. The pool was beautiful as well. Unit was clean and had everything we needed. Location was convenient to Key West too. Fabulous place indeed!

Perfect CottageEverything was provided. It was very clean and sanitized. Bikes, Kayaks and everything from water vest to an air pump was provided. Great room was nice size for four adults. Bedrooms were completely separate from each other with enough closet space for storage. Brand new appliances just added to a wonderful trip.

Spectacular propertyThe property is beautifully furnished, with a split floor plan, roomy kitchen and living area and being pet friendly was a plus! It is situated near the end of the canal with easy access to the open water. We enjoyed our stay so much, and Laura with Last Key rental was always available, reaching out to make sure we had everything we needed. The layout of the living space is perfect with plenty of seating at the big kitchen island. We had neighbors that came down too and stayed in another property and we all had dinner together at this property. I would definitely recommend and would stay there again!

Wonderful experienceThoroughly enjoyed this property. Nicely updated house on a private canal surrounded by great neighbors. It had every convenience I needed. Modern kitchen, comfortable beds, and a beautiful washer and dryer. Kayaks were awesome and we ended up using them for one entire day plus a couple of evenings. House is very close to clear grass flats for fishing. Laura was outstanding and really went above and beyond. Always available by text or phone and very fast to respond to the few questions we had. Hope to come back in the fall!

Everything was perfectWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. The property was very clean, freshly renovated, comfortable and had everything we needed and then some! We would’ve loved to have booked a few more days so that we could’ve enjoyed the kayak as and bikes. We spent much of our time boating and snorkeling. Openings beginning 4/26/19
Our home is a bungalow with cathedral ceilings. It is spacious and sparkling clean. Our home is #655 at Venture Out Resort on Cudjoe Key. (A 24-hour gated community).
We have a light and bright two bedroom, one bath cottage which is a tropical paradise. We have wood floors and tropical decor. The roomy living room has a TV with expanded cable, DVD, comfy new sofa (which can also sleep 2 people) & a comfy chair. Each room is light and bright and always sparkling clean. Our home is obviously equipped with a/c to keep you comfortable & cool. We have WIFI in our home so you can remain 'connected' to the world while enjoying paradise!
Adjacent to the living room is the large eat in kitchen which has updated cabinets, counters and new appliances. There is an adjacent dining room table. People always end up in the kitchen! There's lots of light and new larger windows so it's a great place to be! Fully stocked with everything you'd be looking for on vacation including dishes, wine glasses, all the pots and pans you need, coffee maker, keurig, blender, toaster and MORE.
The master bedroom has a KING size bed with new comforter, lots of storage space and cable TV.
We're provided lots of fluffy new cotton towels in the bathroom.
The second bedroom has a twin trundle, when the two twin beds are side by side it's like another King Size Bed and cable TV which is video game ready.
We have a grill in our backyard along with cement patio furniture for you to enjoy the beautiful keys weather. The front porch has a large deck, seating for 4 but there's 2 more folding chairs in the cabinet. You can enjoy the sunrise and your morning coffee, family dinners and evening cocktails!
Bring your boat! We are on a dry lot but there is no charge for launching in at the Venture Out Marina, your boat can be stored in the 'overflow' lot for a small fee ($2-$4 day). The Florida Keys have some of the best fishing in the world! (Boat and trailer parking is an additional daily charge by the park.) It is also a great spot for Kayaks. You can swim or fish from our open water areas. There is a big TIKI HUT on the open water where picnicking is perfect!
PETS are allowed. An nonrefundable pet fee of $50 will be charged to cover the additional cleaning costs. The park does have pet rules which are part of the rental agreement. Our home is always sparkling clean!
OUR HOME IS NO SMOKING. Smoking outside is obviously permitted.
The GATED COMMUNITY we own in is AWESOME & a very friendly place to stay & enjoy. The resort amenities include: 24 hour security, Lighted tennis courts, Olympic-sized heated pool, kiddie pool, spa Jacuzzi, ping pong, bocce ball courts, shuffleboard courts, golf putting area, lighted basketball court, children's playground, pool table, darts, Marina complete with 2 ramps, gas, store, ATM and fish cleaning station, boat trailer parking onsite, open water picnic areas, ocean front tiki hut, lending library, post office - and MORE - ALL IN A GATED COMMUNITY with a mixture of RV sites and manufactured homes where you can feel safe and secure.
We're only 19 miles from Key West, but do not think you HAVE to go anywhere - lay by the HUGE POOL right on the OPEN WATER and watch the elegant seagulls float overhead as the palms sway. Sun yourself and read a good book and simply relax! Plunge into the BIG JACUZZI and soak your troubles away. Or spend some time with someone you love - holding hands and watching the herons fishing along the waterside! And you do not even have to get in your car to do any of these!

Misleading price on the Internet for four nights. We signed up for $75 a night plus tax. On the receipt, there was another $75 added to the credit card for a "booking fee" plus $100 for a deposit. Then, when we arrived, we were charged another $107 for "guest reservation fee." Our off season, less expensive stay ended up costing more than $120 a night. They are not pet friendly, requiring you to walk your pet to the front gate to pee and poop outside the campground property. We were a LONG way from the front gate. We camped at Venture Out Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a beautiful waterfront site. Park has on-site store and a couple of places to do laundry. There wasn't much to do around the area unless you drove to Key West. We found it to be very expensive but I guess they can get away with it for being in the Keys. We camped at Venture Out Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a gated resort with houses, mobile homes, double wide trailers and RV sites throughout the complex. Very good security. Nice staff. Our site had full hook up and the lot was very large (we had a corner lot). Most of the lots have some type of waterview and some are right on the water. Lots of amenities. Nice pool, large store, tennis & pickle ball courts, etc. We camped at Venture Out Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

History of Venture Out
Venture Out was first conceived of in 1968 as a possible solution for the rapidly increasing leisure activity of ‘travel trailers’ that were appearing on America’s highways. Early enthusiasts found that they were often disappointed in RV park accommodations, when, they were able to find them. Back then they were looking for the basics; clean bathrooms, a pool, maybe a tennis court, a clubhouse would be a bonus.
Two entrepreneurs, Hazen Kreis and Bob Epperson, were able to put their dreams down on paper and built their first resort on the banks of Lake Tansi In Tennessee. When the word got out, they had more applicants for the RV spots than they had accommodations. So of course, they built a second Venture Out, in Gatlinburg Tennessee. Things progressed rapidly and soon the two partners were developing four more Venture Out resorts, in Cudjoe Key, Panama Beach City and St. Lucie Florida, all based on ocean and beach front recreation and at the same time developed Mesa Arizona as the largest community of the six.
A twelve-sided design was used for the club houses and bathhouses in Florida that was supposed to withstand hurricanes, the same design was modified for Arizona. Two communities, Panama City and Cudjoe Keys both recently took direct hits from hurricanes and those 50-year-old buildings withstood winds that otherwise caused massive damage across the parks.
When Kreis and Epperson were in the early stages of development, they realized they needed a partner with deep pockets and convinced Gulf Oil Corporation to come on board. This is perhaps one of the best things that happened to Venture Out. Since Gulf Oil’s business was oil and pipelines, Venture Out at Mesa benefited by having some of the best heavy-duty PVC pipe that was currently in the market, installed for water and sewer lines.
Venture Out started as 200 acres of cotton, onions and barley and was developed originally into 1752 RV spaces. Three of those spaces became driveways into the far corners of the property and unfortunately the North West corner was sold off in the early stages of development, leaving only 160 acres. Ownership of the lots was key. Lots were originally offered at $3900 a space and the first lot was sold in January of 1970.
All six Venture Outs began to evolve in different directions dictated by their natural surroundings. The Venture Outs in Tennessee are located next to State and National park lands and take advantage of the boating and fishing activities. The Florida Venture Outs are all based on the ocean & beach lifestyle, and many owners have boats docked next to their homes.
Venture Out at Mesa evolved into an activity-based community, focusing greatly on sports, hobby’s and club activities. Five Venture Out’s started off as family communities and retain that today. Venture Out at Mesa was different however and started off with the concept of Adults Only.
In 1988, Federal Fair Housing Laws made Adults Only communities illegal and only 55 Plus or 62 plus communities were legal. Venture Out had to go through the process of satisfying the federal law and applied for that legal designation. Owners that were under 55 at the time, could still be owners but from that day forward, every unit sold or occupied had to have at least one owner who was 55 years of age.
Originally Venture Out was designated for only ‘travel trailers’ but through the years, the owners have voted to change their governing documents to first allow park models, then allow an attached awning, then the attached awning was allowed to be developed as an Arizona room and finally the Arizona rooms were allowed to raised to the same height as the park model. All these changes were voted on by the lot owners. Who knows what further evolution’s in design lot owners will approve in the years ahead?
When Venture Out opened in 1970, only the Administration building and Bathhouse # 1 were built. The Community Center was completed in December of 1970. The West Pool was also completed around the same time. All the other buildings, courts and club facilities were gradually added over time spanning a period of twenty years. By 2002 when Venture Out was 32 years old, the aging facilities began to present problems and were less desirable to potential new owners than more modern communities. It was then that Long Range Planning started and Venture Out began a new round of building and updating their facilities to keep the community current and a place where future generations want to retire to.
