Want free Disney SVG cut files for Cricut Design Space? Just make your own!

We are getting ready to take our kids to Disneyland for the first time and I wanted to make some shirts for everyone in the family.

I was looking around online for some Disney inspired cut files and I realized I could just make this WITHIN Cricut Design Space for FREE.

free disney svg files

Mickey ears SVGs are not the only things you can make for free in Cricut Design space. Technically, if you&#;re really ambitious, you could make the castle as well.

Regardless, so many things can be created out of a basic mouse silhouette; a split monogram, Minnie Mouse inspired graphics, accessories&#;. the possibilities are endless just all within Design Space.

How to make a Free Mickey Mouse SVG in Cricut Design Space

It really doesn&#;t get any easier than this. That Mickey Mouse silhouette is everywhere and essential to any Disneyland related gear.

free disney svg for cricut

Start with a circle shape using the Shape tool. Duplicate this circle to make 2 ears.

Then create one more circle and enlarge it for the face.

Select all 3 elements and weld.

Then using your shapes tool, create a long rectangle from the square shape.

free disney svg

Position the rectangle over the bottom half of the face. Select both elements and slice.

Delete the rest of the rectangle along with one of the half circle pieces.

Recolor the remaining half circle.

Create another 2 circles using the shapes tool. Position them at the top of the half circle.

Depending on what you want to do with the end design, you can either slice or attach the button.

How to make a Free Minnie Mouse SVG in Cricut Design Space

Minnie Mouse is almost as easy as Mickey. The key different is the bow.

free disney svg cut files

To make a bow, start with a circle and heart shape.

Alter the circle so it is a vertical oval. Make sure the tallest part of the oval is the same as the width of the hear. You can just type this in to make sure it is more accurate by using the Size Tool on the top panel.

Position the over the sideways heart so the tallest parts align.

Weld both shapes.

Duplicate this tear drop and Flip Horizontal.

Create another tall oval using the circle shape. Depending on what you want to do with the design, either weld it over the 2 bow ends or position it over the area and slice.

Remember, you can only slice 2 things at one time. After slicing the bow end, select all the components of the middle oval and weld.

Free Castle SVG cut files for the Cricut and other Cutting Machines

To make the rest of the graphics in my example, you will need a castle and bow SVG.

I have included the Disney inspired castle, bows, and sunglasses SVGs for free in my resource library.

These DIY Mickey Ears are made with your Cricut Maker.  They are so fun and easy to make that you will want to make yourself a few pairs for your next Disneyland trip!

This post contains affiliate links. This means, if you make a purchase through my links, I’ll receive a small portion of your purchase at no extra cost to you.

Okay, I&#;m so excited to share this tutorial with you today. I LOVEDisneyland. It&#;s one of my favorite vacation spots. We went just about every other summer growing up. When I married my husband and I was working at an awesome company, they took all of us to Disneyland. (Incredible, right?) It was an amazing experience.

I have gotten to take my two kids twice now, and I absolutely can&#;t wait until our next trip. We have done Halloween time but we are thinking about going for Christmas. I hear it&#;s so magical, and I know it has to be because Disneylandis magical! In my opinion, there&#;s no better place to spend time with your loved ones.

I always purchase my tickets through Get Away Today. They have the best tickets prices! If you are looking to buy tickets to Disneyland, make sure you get them from Get Away Today, and use my code jenny10 for $10 off any 2-night or longer Southern California package. (Click HERE to look at Get Away Today&#;s website for tickets.)

Whenever I visit Disneyland, I love wearing a pair of Mickey ears. But buying ears every time we go can get expensive.

Enter these DIY Mickey ears. You can make these DIY ones for under $10 and around 30 minutes of your time. It&#;s so fast because you use your Cricut Maker to to cut everything out for you.

The Cricut Maker is amazing. I love the fabric cutting capabilities with the rotary blade. I even cut out sequined fabric!  No more looking for a cup to trace or guessing how large to make them. I&#;m even including a link to the file in Cricut Design Space that I made. I hope you you will make yourself a pair or two!

(Note- these ears do require sewing; only a little bit around the outer ears. If you don&#;t have a sewing machine you could also use fabric glue for this part)

Materials for DIY Mickey Ears:
(Click on any of the words below to purchase.)

Cricut Maker
Cricut Fabric Mat
Cricut Strong Grip Mat
Fine Tip Blade
Rotary Blade
White Felt
1 piece of thick cardstock (I used a cereal box. Recycling!)
1/4 yard fabric of your choice for ears
1/4 yard fabric of your choice for bow
1 headband
Hot glue gun & glue sticks
Sewing machine & thread

Open Cricut Design Space and open this file&#;&#;-> DIY Mickey Ears

You will see the outside part of the ears (black), the inside parts (brown and white) , and the bow (pink). You don&#;t need to adjust the size or anything.

First, we are going to cut out the outer ear and the inside felt pieces. Click on the eye icon in the Layers Menu to hide the bow (pink) and the cardstock piece (brown). Now you will only cut out the felt and fabric pieces right now and can select 2 copies on your Mat screen (because you need two ears.)

Load your felt on the fabric mat and select Felt for your first mat. Your rotary blade should be inserted in your machine.

Cut out your felt and then load your fabric on the pink fabric mat. I chose a sequined fabric, so from the drop down list, I chose &#;Sequined&#; If you choose another fabric type make sure you select the correct kind.

You will have 4 pieces of felt ears and 4 pieces of sequined (or fabric) ears.

Now you are going to cut out the bow and the inner piece that gives the ears support. Unhide the bow and brown piece and hide the white and black ears. Click on Make It. (If you don&#;t want a bow, simply hide the bow and only cut out the inside piece.)

I used a leftover cereal box for my inside piece. I simply cut the box down and used a strong grip mat to cut it out. You will want to make sure you have your fine tip blade in the tool slot when you cut out either your cereal box or thick cardstock.

For the bow, you will want to place your fabric of choice on your fabric mat, select the fabric type, insert your rotary blade in the tool slot and cut it out.

Sewing:

  1. Pin your ear pieces right sides together (I love to use wonder clips.)
  2. Using a 1/4&#; seam allowance sew around the round part of the ear piece, leaving the entire bottom open.
  3. Make tiny snips in the edge of your ears to prevent bulk. Be careful NOT to snip the seam you just made.
  4. Flip your ear right side out. Repeat with the other ear. You are ready for assembly!

Ear Assembly:

  1. Glue the felt to both sides of the inner cardstock piece using your hot glue gun.
  2. Slightly roll the felt and cardboard piece and place inside your fabric ear. Once you have it all the way inside the ear make sure to flatten it out.
  3. Fold one side of the bottom fabric over the inside piece and tuck it down and glue it with hot glue. The fold the other side over and glue it shut.
  4. Figure out your placement of where you want your ears on your headband, then glue the ears on the headband with the hot glue.

Bow Instructions:

  1. Place a thin line of hot glue down the center of the large rectangle.
  2. Fold up the bottom piece and press to secure.
  3. Place another thin line of hot glue and press the top piece down on it to secure.
  4. Place a dot of glue in the center and fold over your right edge. Place another dot of glue and fold over your left edge. Press to secure. You will now have a smaller glued rectangle (not shown).
  5.  Place a thin line of hot glue in the center of the small rectangle.
  6. Fold up the bottom and press. Place another thin line of glue and fold down the top and press.
  7. Take your large rectangle and pinch it in the middle using your thumb and forefinger with the seams in the back. Place a dot of glue in the center and attach the small rectangle, seam side down.
  8. Wrap the small rectangle around the back and secure with more glue. Trim any excess material.

To finish your ears, use the hot glue to attach the bow to your headband. Of course you can always choose to embellish your ears with more fun items like beads or shells. I&#;ve seen so many cute ears from Little Mermaid to Snow White. The possibilities are endless! I love that the Maker cuts out all the materials for me so I can enjoy the fun part of making the ears. If you have any questions let me know in the comments below.

Cutting The Decal On The Cricut Joy

You can use any Cricut Machine but I find the Joy easier for small projects. Size the decal using your mask as a guide and resize accordingly in design space and send to cut.

When sending your Cricut Mask Template to cut, you would usually ensure you mirror the image, however this is only important if you add words or an image that is not symmetrical to the project.

Iron On The Vinyl

Place your iron on vinyl on the cutting matt shiny side down. Thus you can’t see the colour of the vinyl on the top. (The shiny side is the part you will use to apply your heat press to to protect the vinyl.)

Weed the design ensuring you have got all the little bits out. As once ironed on it is too late.

Heat press the surface you intend to iron onto to heat up.

Put your design into place and set the heat press to the appropriate heat as per the heat guide. For this project using the easy press mini and a heat mat on the middle heat for 30 seconds. Then flip and press for 15 seconds. Check the heat guide if you are using alternative products.

Now leave too cool before removing the plastic backing and enjoy rocking your new Mickey Mask made with this easy Cricut Mask Template.
