For , the F gets an expanded lineup. At the top is a new King Ranch model lavishly outfitted in Castano leather. At the bottom is a new V6 model available with an automatic or manual transmission. An inexpensive Work Truck model has been added as well. In between is the industry&#;s widest variety of body configurations: three cab styles, three bed lengths, two bed styles, and a choice of V8 engines. Six distinct trim levels are thoughtfully designed to address the needs of individual buyers with distinct needs and wants.

The F is bigger, heavier, and more costly to build than the previous version, but it offers excellent handling, a quiet and refined ride, and comfortable interiors that show attention to detail. The F comes equipped with dual frontal airbags designed to deploy according to the severity of the crash and who or what is occupying the seat. Seat belts, your first line of defense in any crash, are equipped with pre-tensioners and energy-management retractors.

Ford F Pickup Truck Routine Maintenance FAQ

Maintenance Schedule

The following intervals are based on the assumption that you will be doing the service work yourself, as opposed to paying to have the work done. These are our recommended minimum maintenance intervals for vehicles that are driven daily, and in many cases are shorter than the factory’s recommendations. Because frequent maintenance enhances the efficiency, performance and resale value of your Jeep, we encourage you to follow our schedule. If you drive in dusty areas, tow a trailer, idle or drive at low speeds for extended periods, or drive for short periods (less than four miles at a time) in below freezing temperatures, even smaller intervals are recommended.

When the vehicle is new, follow the maintenance schedule to the letter, record it in your owner’s manual and keep all receipts to protect the warranty and resale value. In many cases the initial maintenance check is done by the dealer at no cost (check with the service department when you buy the truck for more information).

The eleventh generation of the Ford F-Series is a line of light-duty trucks manufactured by Ford from the to model years. Slotted between the Ford Ranger and the Ford (F-Series) Super Duty trucks, the model line includes the Ford F pickup truck. In a first (for several decades), both the body and chassis had undergone a redesign.

Introducing a sharper-edged version of the aerodynamic styling from the tenth generation, this generation adopted several design elements from the larger Super Duty trucks, including the stepped front door windows (a design feature which remains in use), triple-bar grille (also shared with the Ranger), and optional extended-width mirrors. This is the final version of the F-Series designed with the FlareSide bed style.

This generation of the F was marketed by Lincoln-Mercury as the Lincoln Mark LT from to (replacing the Blackwood); again serving as the basis for Ford full-size SUVs, the F shares a degree of mechanical commonality with the Ford Expedition and the Lincoln Navigator.

Through its production, the eleventh-generation F-Series was assembled by Ford at multiple facilities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

F150 manual transmission 2004 ford

If you have your eye on a brand new Ford F, you&#;re falling in line with the thousands of Americans who make Ford their favorite pickup. As you consider the available options and trim levels for the F, you may be wondering about the availability of manual transmission.

With the ever-growing industry trend to simplify and digitize features, there are still plenty of consumers who prefer the feel of the gear shifter behind the wheel. We investigated all the powertrain options for Ford F to find out if the manual transmission has faded into the review mirror or not.

Do people still want a manual transmission?

There are plenty of drivers and enthusiasts out there who prefer the control and performance that comes with shifting manually. However, the numbers aren&#;t lying when they indicate fewer and fewer Americans want the manual gearbox. Jalopnik shared insight that manuals on full-sized trucks, in general, haven&#;t been popular since the 80s. According to Automotive News, only about 1% of all new cars sold have a manual transmission.

What&#;s new for the Ford F

There are plenty of truck-loving reasons to get excited about the new F They&#;ve added a ton of options and reworked their lists of standards. Ford has added a family of driving assistant features within various packages, that were formerly reserved only for higher-level trims. There are a few new appearance packages available for even the XL and XLT.

Another significant change came in the design using all aluminum. Imagine that beefy engine working with almost lbs less truck. New F owners in can also expect some standard tech, including 4G, LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities.

Available configurations for

New F pickups can be equipped with six available engine configurations under the hood. It&#;ll make choosing your truck feel like you&#;re browsing a menu at a fine dining restaurant. The biggest surprise might be the introduction of the twin-turbo V6, with towing prowess of up to 13, pounds and making it a best-pick for power. You can still choose your L diesel or L base V6. Consider what kind of work and truck capabilities you&#;ll need, and Ford has just the truck configuration to make it happen, stylishly.

Is manual transmission a thing of the past for the F?

All but one of the Ford F&#;s engine selections come married with a speed automatic transmission (with a six-speed auto on the base model). This means you&#;ll have tremendous tow ratings and big payloads. But, if you are loyal to the manual transmission, can you get one in the pickup? Unfortunately, if you&#;re looking for the manual option with a Ford in , you won&#;t find it in the F As more and more consumers move away from wanting those manual gearboxes, fewer and fewer pickups are offering them altogether.

Other Fords with manual options

Since , there have been several automakers abandoning manual transmission options entirely. People just aren&#;t driving them anymore. Ford enthusiasts can, however, expect a variety of Mustangs to come still equipped with the stick shift. But, as for the pickups, automatic transmissions are the only option.

If you have your engine-revving heart set on driving or buying a new Ford F next year, you won&#;t be disappointed in the multitude of choices for engines, trim levels, and packages. You might, however, miss out on using your clutch foot. And, you won&#;t have the satisfaction of holding that gear shifter and dropping it into second or fourth. It sounds like we&#;ll have to get our manual transmission fix on older models from here on out.

Be Smart, Check in Advance. CARFAX — Your Vehicle History.

CARFAX — Your Vehicle History Expert

Sometimes what you don't know can't hurt you, but that's not the case when buying a used car. As an independent vehicle history provider, at CARFAX we've made it our mission to tell you everything you need to know by uncovering as many events as possible from the previous life of a used car. Our primary goal is to help you get to know your next car from the inside out before deciding to make an investment that will be part of you and your family's everyday life. We believe your next car shouldn't be hiding anything from you.

CARFAX Vehicle History Reports contain over 28 billion historical records from 20 European countries, the US and Canada, which are updated daily with new information.

Even if you live in a country we don't collect vehicle data from, it's still always worth checking the Vehicle Identification Number without obligation. The used car import and export market is booming and many owners would be surprised to find out exactly what happened to their vehicle during its previous life abroad.

Privacy for Customers — Transparency over Vehicles

Let's be clear: Although we strive to find every detail of a vehicle's life so far, we are focused only on the vehicle's history, and do not collect any information on previous owners. The information we provide relates solely to the vehicle, its odometer reading, any accidents that have been covered up, where the vehicle comes from and much more — it never gets personal. We've uncovered irreparable damage several times in the past, but other times our vehicle history checks draw a blank — and sometimes that's actually a good thing.

Second Hand — Not Second Best

Did you know that considerably more used cars are sold than new cars? We think this second-hand system is nothing short of fantastic. However, it goes without saying that it gives rise to different methods and tactics: Some sellers will disguise a car that's been in an accident under a fresh coat of paint, tamper with the odometer or conceal theft. This is one of the less appealing aspects of buying second hand. Our goal is to establish trusting relationships between buyers and sellers, since this is the best way to help customers make the right decision. Your new car should be reliable and make you feel safe, as well as make you feel like you haven't paid too much.

But more than anything else, we don't want you or your family unknowingly sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle that isn't % safe. This is why we strive to take these vehicles off the road, which not only makes the used car market safer but our streets safer too.

CARFAX — 35+ Years of Experience in Vehicle Histories

CARFAX was founded in the US in and expanded into Europe in Around team members spread across six European offices process vehicle information from 22 countries.

Fostering strategic partnerships with registration authorities, law enforcement agencies, government departments, insurance companies, inspection centers and numerous other leading companies around the world has enabled us to compile a unique international database for vehicle histories. We use this database to help make the used car market more transparent. We give everyone in the process of buying a used car access to what is currently the world's most comprehensive source for vehicle history reports, and is growing day by day.

We remain neutral and independent despite our partnerships — our sole purpose is help customers make an informed choice and ensure their safety and the safety of their family. This includes never collecting any personal details — we do not accept any PII from data sources amongst the information we provide about a vehicle. We ensure that data protection laws are observed at all times. Furthermore, we always collect our data in compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks — in all the countries in which we are active. We expressly distance ourselves from illegal activities such as data theft, scraping and hacking.
