So the poster posting about finding only Mercedes in the rich part of town is racist too right? Not only black people live in the "ghetto" or "hood" However a large majority of people of drive donks are black.

I've always loved threads like these... they always degenerate into a racial argument... With good reason.

Call it a stereotype, call it racism, call it whatever you want... Trends like these cars are clearly split by racial lines. Recognizing that fact isn't racist, it's called fact.

I've seen a few of these "donk" cars in my day (never knew they were called that until now though.) Seen plenty in Dallas, Jacksonville, some in Orlando, Miami, etc. I've never seen anyone other than a black person driving one, and I must have seen at least a hundred of these cars on the road over the years.

On the same token, living in TX, I've seen the gold/chrome spinner type wheels, sticking out 4 inches from the fender, lowered, etc. I've personally never seen anyone driving one of those that wasn't Latino. (Now anyway, 10-20 years ago, I saw a few blacks driving these, but not many.)

Then there's the ricers. The Honda/Toyota/Nissan crowd who take an anemic performing car, put a huge fart can exhaust on it, big rear wing bolted to the trunk, performance brand stickers all over it, etc. These are driven by both asians and whites. Extremely rare to see blacks or mexicans drive these, at least where I've lived, but they are out there.

Rednecks. Big, monstrous jacked up trucks, with huge mud tires. Half of them don't even have 4wd and never go mudding. This is pretty much all done by whites, though I've seen a couple blacks and mexicans have this too. Never seen an asian in one.

So let's recap.

Donks = blacks
Lowriders with tiny tires sticking out = latinos
Ricers = asians and whites
Jacked up trucks = mainly whites

Acknowledging something backed up by visual evidence time and time again is hardly racist.

I would suggest that you consider this from a different perspective.

The nature of this thread is basically:

1. "Here's something that mainly black people do. Isn't it stupid?"

2. (and many following comments) "The hood", "Ma homies" "Bro", "Dis, dat", " wit dey grillz", "frontin'", "Black people are stupid." etc.

3. "How dare you call me a racist?"

Does this at all clarify why someone might think that racist attitudes are on display here?

Donks are always good for a laugh. Anything that furthers car enthusiasm isn't a bad thing though and to each his or her own style.

That's not the issue I'm discussing, at all. I'm talking about the cars and the people who do these things to them. It's a cultural thing, divided by race.

You want to talk about the attitudes of some of the people posting, there's no doubt there's some racist people here. You'll find comments like that on a variety of subjects... but this is automotive, and my post was only to talk about the cars and the people who modify them like that, and simply noticing these trends is not racist.

If people are taking the subject too far, report them, that's what the button is for.

Not all blacks drive donks. But most donks are driven by blacks, undeniably. Is that a racist statement if it's true? Are references to the stereotyped cliches racist if they are true, as shown in the various videos?

Around here most ricers are Mexicans, but I also see plenty of Mexicans in donks.

Asians seem to have moved on the cars like the M3.

Other than redneck white and their trucks, white people don't really seem to be into car culture in this area much anymore. Sure, there are some but not a whole lot.

Witness Sheer Mayhem When A 1000+ Horsepower Fleet Of The Fastest Donks Rule A Drag Strip

By Kyle Moehling

ShareTweetEmail

Donkmaster Sage Thomas brought a bunch of turbo LS builds to the drag strip and let 'em rip.

In the automotive community, there are tons of different niches and styles. Anything from supercars and muscle cars to more controversial stance-nation style cars. One of the more controversial styles still rising in popularity are Donks. People love to hate on donks, saying that putting oversized wheels on a classic is a waste of a good car. Especially when they see an old muscle car donked out, they cant envision the car ever being fast or good for anything. However, that is definitely not the case, especially with the donks built by Donkmaster, Sage Thomas, and his fleet of 1,000+ horsepower donks.

DonkMaster's 2000-HP Donk Is The Fastest In The World

Sage Thomas brought three cars to a racing event, planning on racing them all. One of them is a crazy 2,000 horsepower 1971 Chevy Caprice called the Z06 Donk that has been crowned the fastest donk in the world. The donk makes this insane horsepower from an all aluminum single turbo LS2 and is riding on some massive 28-inch custom rims. Not only is the exterior customized to the max, but the interior is too. Sage replaced the original interior with that of a 2018 C7 Corvette, which required stretching the dash roughly 9 inches to make it all fit.

Putting all that power down is no easy thing, as none of these cars have the advantage of sticky drag slicks. However, they still manage to get these high horsepower beasts down the track and make clean passes. Early on in the event, Donkmaster races his black G-body with large gold rims against a 405 Grey Goose G-Body making just over 1,100 HP. Donkmaster fights to gain traction and can't pull off the win, but things were just getting started.

The King Of Big Wheel Racing

Sage lines up three races to end the night. Racing his black Monte Carlo against a Nova, his pearl purple donk Chevy against a gold Chevy, and finally his Monte Carlo again against another G-Body. Donkmaster shows everybody why they call him the king as he pulls off wins in all three of the races. The races were all fairly close. Both cars bounce down the drag strip as each driver pedals their cars, doing their best to keep the massive tall cars going straight.

Donkmaster also gets called out at the end of the night by the track manager in his N/A 4th gen Camaro who lets him get the hit and start with the Camaro lined up with Sage's rear tire. The advantages are enough to make for a close race as Donkmaster just barely pulls off yet another win in his black Monte Carlo.

in keeping with centers for disease control guidelines we fully embrace virtual events as a way of celebrating california clean air day. just like in-person events, we encourage you to think creatively on ways that you inspire others in your community to take action. examples of clean air events that can be done virtually include leading a class through an online science experiment, hosting a lunch and learn with a guest speaker to talk about the latest trends in clean air technology, a subject-specific tweet-storm, a webinar on bicycle safety and much more.

for those of you who choose activities that are place-based, please take every precaution to ensure that these events are outdoors, require participants to wear facemasks and do not require extended standing closer than six feet. examples of events that may fit these requirements include bike-rides, certain types of giveways, certain types of tree planting events and public awareness efforts. click here for the latest cdc guidelines on in-person gatherings.
